Efficacy of different methods used for dry socket prevention and risk factor analysis: A systematic review
2017
Background Dry socket is one of the most common complications that develops after the extraction of a permanent tooth, and its prevention is more effective than its treatment. Objectives Analyze the efficacy of different methods used in preventing dry socket in order to decrease its incidence after tooth extraction. Material and Methods A Cochrane and PubMed-MEDLINE database search was conducted with the search terms “dry socket”, “prevention”, “risk factors”, “alveolar osteitis” and “fibrynolitic alveolitis”, both individually and using the Boolean operator “AND”. The inclusion criteria were: clinical studies including at least 30 patients, articles published from 2005 to 2015 and written …
Antibiotic susceptibility of the bacteria causing odontogenic infections
2006
Dental implications in oral cancer patients
2011
Objectives. A study is made of the dental implications of oral cancer, with a view to avoiding the complications that appear once oncological treatment is started. Patients and Methods. The study comprised a total of 22 patients diagnosed with oral cancer according to clinical and histological criteria in the Service of Maxxillofacial Surgery (Dental Clinic of the University of Barcelona, Spain) during the period 1996-2005, and posteriorly treated in different hospital centers in Barcelona. Results. Of the 22 patients diagnosed with oral cancer in our Service, the present study finally analyzed the 12 subjects who reported for the dental controls. Multiple supernumerary teeth not associated with complex syndromes: a retrospective study
2009
Objectives: To determine the epidemiology and describe the clinical and radiographic characteristics, the type of treatment, and the possible delayed appearance of new supernumerary teeth in patients with non-syndromic multiple hyperdontia. Patients and Methods: We conducted a small retrospective observational study of 8 patients diagnosed with nonsyndromic multiple hyperdontia. Multiple hyperdontia not associated to complex syndromes was defined as apparently generally healthy patients with one or more supernumerary teeth in two or more areas. Results: The average patient age was 16.23 years; males predominated (3:1). Multiple hyperodontia with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 9 supernumera…
Hereditary familial polyposis and Gardner’s syndrome: Contribution of the odontostomatology examination in its diagnosis and a case description
2005
